Post 4: What I learned
This blog has inspired me to learn many things. Surprisingly it also taught me not to wait until the last minute to do an assignment because in the end it is just going to be disastrous. The research process is very intense and takes a lot more work than I thought it would. Looking for sources is the hardest part because there may not be a source specific to what I am researching. I may have to search through fifty books to actually find something that relates. The process is very difficult even for the annotated bibliography I was getting frustrated. It is a simple task that takes a lot of thinking. My question changed like five times. I started with vegetarianism then somehow got into the topic of losing hair. In the library I could not find one thing about those topics. After all that commotion I talked to Ms. Ingram and then she said that shampoo toxicity and the harmful ingredients may be a better topic to research. I have learned about myself that I need to push myself harder to get an assignment done. I also have to be more resourcfuk and not just look online for citations and take the easy way out. If I look into books and published articles from the library I could learn so much more than I would ever think. We had blogging in high school to cooperate with our peers and we had to comment on another students writing. This really helped me realize what was wrong and the things that were right. The blogging we are doing now is very similar and I can look at other students work to get an idea of what I am supposed to be doing and how it is supposed to be accomplished.

Post 3: Reading
From the reading, when writing my essay I need to incorporate the audience and think about their opinion and how they are going to react to my issue. I also have to think of who will be reading my essay will it be scholars or students. When academically writing this essay it will be written to my classmates and professor but also to people that are interested in which shampoos can be harmful to them. There is a much broader range of audience then since everyone uses shampoo on a daily basis. I would assume it would be the older generation that will care more about their hair because it is falling out and they would want to use shampoo that is going to keep it longer lasting and healthier. Teens care about their hair but as long as it is not falling out and it smells good then everything is ok. My topic is defiantly timely because people use shampoos everyday and they need to know which ones are the best and worst. They need to know that the most expensive ones are the ones that are better for them in the long run. When a shampoo costs ninety nine cents such as Suave shampoo there is nothing that can be good about it. The toxicity levels are enormously high and it can damage the hair intensively. I am still debating on why the FDA still approves these types of shampoos still to be on the shelves of stores. I care about this topic because every girl loves her hair and I want to know what will make it healthy without damaging it. I use dove right now but I change it very often because I am not sure which shampoo is the best for me. After researching various types of shampoos I will learn what is in them and what it is doing to my hair. In high school they just want a paper so that they could give us a quick grade to say we have “learned” it. In reality we learned nothing. In college they want us to get more out of our topic and learn so that it can be used in future reference. I could use this topic in the future sometime and it is going to help me out in the long run because I will know what shampoos to buy. I have so many viewpoints because I am thinking of the FDA and then which shampoos are better for my hair type. I have learned so far that in Suave shampoo the FDA does not even approve more than half the chemicals that go into the shampoo so it is not safe what so ever. I commented on Lisa Grosselius's Profile.

Post 2: Research Sources
The best source I have found is an online article called “8 Ways you’re Damaging your Hair” it is written by WebMD in CBS News. In seventh reason it explains how over shampooing it can make it dry. It is pretty much stating that the less the hair is washed the better it is and the less damaged it is. Shampooing can depend on the type of hair if someone’s hair needs to be washed everyday then it should be. If a person just washes it for their pleasure everyday it is not healthy. There is only a little paragraph about over shampooing but it tells a lot. While going through the school libraries website and browsing Google for interesting sources I realized that my question was too broad. I think that it may change to Does how your hair get damaged depend on shampoo or are their other reasons? Other such as flat ironing, hair type and the sun even could be a factor in hair damage. I have learned that by having black hair and being in the sun to long my hair gets so hot and I was wondering if that causes damage to it. There are so many challenges in researching this topic because there are such a variety of things that could be involved in damage. The title of the article I chose is 8 ways you’re damaging your hair. So that is a broad article with tons of ways that it could be damaged. In the library I could not find any books that dealt with this topic, but I was able to find tons of articles that could work. This is not going to be an easy essay but by talking to my peers and my professor it can be accomplished.

Post 1: Research Topic
My question is does washing your hair everyday cause hair loss? I chose this question because to be honest I wash my hair almost every day. I just feel gross if I do not wash it. I have gotten better of this habit because I have learned that it can possibly cause damage and hair loss. I want to know more about and know what actually happens to my hair and if it is a bad habit. It is important, because the answer may lie in the types of shampoo that are being used. If people are buying shampoo that is damaging their hair they should know about it. They may need to switch shampoos that work with their hair or just wash it less frquently. I expect to find that it does damage the hair, causing it to fall out, and that the shampoos that are being used contribute to the problem. I understand that if someone’s hair is oily they have a reason to wash it every day but if not than it is not good for the hair. I feel that it does cause damage and that after researching what washing my hair almost every day does to it I will change my ways. I would just like to know the result of washing it everyday and the factors that contribute to the hair falling out. I know that it is going to change my decision from what I do now, because when I learn more things change.
